Have you given your hunting & fishing New Year’s Resolutions any thought?
My list consists of four resolutions, and man I hope I can pull them off!
Quality time – spending more time afield this year is a must..there just never seems to be enough time for hunting and fishing, as real life commitments always get in the way of enjoying the Great Outdoors..I just need to try harder to make it happen!
Question everything – I also plan to take less things for granted this year…when I should be questioning everything…our resource managers, politicians and those who’s work directly effects on our renewal natural resources.
Crossbow hunting – I’ve always wanted to learn the crossbow, and try a crossbow hunt for moose..its just one more of those activities I’ve never done, and always wanted to.
Be more vigilant – The other day someone asked about a tag draw for Eastern ON deer hunters..and I was at loss for info…I really need to get back on the scene so that hunting and fishing info is more readily available in this town.
Ottawa may be the town that fun forgot, but we do have some of the greatest outdoor activities right at our doorstep, and for God’s sake, people need to know about it!
What are your New Year’s hunting and fishing resolutions? Drop me a line!

Geez Jeff … I’d be happy just to get out fishing more. So, that’s a good resolution to start off with.
I will double my fishing days in 2010. Got about 5 or 6 last year. Ten or 12 sounds just about right, especially if a few of them are on a certain special Ottawa Valley river which must remain nameless.
OK Don..that sounds fair. I’d like to double my time on the water (& ice) as well..could you talk to the boss for me..hehe
Hey, now that I own a trailer up the valley, I’ll have a lot more time this summer for ‘recon’…and hopefully finding this infamous river I hear all about!
How big was that smallie again?

Jeff, if you want to do some xbow hunting I’d be more than happy to have you tag along. If you’re willing to leave the warm southern Ontario and come to the Norther region that is. I’ve taken up xbow hunting 3 years ago now, I regret taking so long!
Jeff,i spend a lot of time on the water and in the bush but it still is not enough.I always feel i have missed some imformation out there that could be usefull.I think back about different scenarios from last year and what i should or should not have done to get that trophy fish or buck. The wildlife and scenery, the peace and quite. My 2 resolutions for this year are,1- keep a log or diary of sitings, weather, moon fazes.barometric pressure, and the second is carry a camera.
Paul, I have always wanted to keep a log but just never got around to it. That is a great resolution, though, I think I will follow your example.
