Bounder Magazine Summer Issue

Bounder Summer

If you have not yet picked up the Summer(Vintage) issue of Bounder Magazine, I suggest you get moving.

Bounder is marketed as a Men’s Magazine, but its appeal transcends all gender lines. Whether you’re a ‘sitter’ or a ‘pointer’ who enjoys a good read, you will discover something of interest within the thick, high quality pages of this publication.

Thanks to the ongoing efforts of Publisher Brian Warren, Bounder is getting better and better with every issue. It can found ‘scattered like a shotgun blast’ throughout the Ottawa valley and across town, in a number of different outlets.

I usually pick mine up at Metro and Canadian Tire stores.

I would like to again thank Publisher Brian Warren for inviting me to be part of this Ottawa success story last summer. For features on classic cars, dogs, men’s health, music, fishing, comedy, hunting, local entertainment, and regular columns by such folks as  Red Green, Randall Moore, John Switzer, Mark Papousek, Tom McLellan, Dave Brown, Delmer & Cecil and more.

In this issue, Dave Brown’s column gives you a glimpse into the life of a ‘young Bounder’ – his love of tradition and of the Great Outdoors. Hey Brian, all this makes sense now!

And if you just can’t get enough hunting and fishing here on the Outdoors Guy Blog and have a hankering for more, pick up a copy of Bounder and check out my column. (And just between you and me, the man plans to expand to even more issues next year!)

  1. just had time to read Randall Moore’s column and it was right on, great writer and good with his commentary on CHEZ106,unfortunately I listen to DAWG101.9 because I like the blues, but when I do catch him he’s great. I’ll take the magazine to the cottage tonight and read the rest, have to go up to cut the grass, big golf weekend up there with the guys this weekend

    1. Yes Iggy, Randall tells it like it is…something that many people in this city…and most everywhere in fact, have trouble doing!

Nothing against the Dawg..but I would never stop listening to CHEZ…

  2. Oh I don’t blame you, I liked CHEZ too but DAWG just kind of hits the right notes for me, less heavy rock and more blues, to tell you the truth a lot of their music overlaps, but they don’t have Randall

    1. Yeah, its Doc, Woody & Randall that make CHEZ for me..love those guys and hey, you gotta support those who’ve supported you over the years!!

Speaking of Blues, Iggy..I’m sure you must be a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan..well, I am one of those fortunate few who got the chance to see the man(the genius) live in concert before his untimely death..twice even!!

Saw Stevie Ray first in Montreal at Jarry Park (1986) the night his father died, and then during his very last tour in 1989 at the Civic Centre Salon(from 20 feet away)…most incredible show I’ve ever seen..sorry, I digress.

I also listen to country music, love the old stuff every Sunday morning

I heard Bouder Magazine mentioned on DAWG 101.7 yesterday

    1. hehe..sorry Iggy..I wrote:

Meaning, I saw SRV in concert twice..before his untimely death.

I love old country too…DAWG plays classic country on the weekends?

  4. no CKBY does, but I see we both are on the correct my English writing trail LOL
I knew exactly what you meant, but I remember I once wrote a story about a moose hunt I went on
I sent it to you and you very politely told me to forget writing and stick to hunting
in your very polite way, you told me it stunk, so I now watch for little slip ups and in my own
very polite way, point them out 😉

    1. ahh..they call that ‘touche’..good one Iggs.

For the life of me I cant recall that, but it sounds like I was being a jerk if I said that, so Im glad you called me on it!

If it makes you feel better…sometimes when hunting I feel like I should just stick to writing..hehe

      1. I forgot the mention, those nice elk photos that accompany my latest Bounder Column were provided by Serge Picard!

The images were taken by a buddy of his from the US..who’s an avid elk hunter and photographer.

Thanks Serge for your help on that one!!
