Singer Morrissey snubs Duck Dynasty boys

Britain’s Morrissey – so-called singer of 80′s band The Smiths, has sparked controversy yet again over his refusal to appear on tonight’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Morrissey, an outspoken Animal Rights Activist, was to be a guest on Kimmel’s late night talkshow, until discovering that the Robertson boys from Duck Dynasty television show fame, are also guests.

Morrissey says he cannot appear on the same show with the likes of those who amount to ‘animal serial killers’.

Phil Robertson, a serial killer?  I don’t think so!

Willie Roberston, a serial killer?  No siree Bob!

Jase Robertson, a serial killer?  Bahh, he couldn’t hurt a fly

Miss Kay, a serial killer?  Come on man have you lost your mind??

No one from Duck Dynasty was available for comment, but I think I know what they would say anyway.

To show you the shear depth of this Morrissey guy’s depravity. Before starting a one of his shows back in 2011, the delusional vegetarian told the crowd, “We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown..though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried S**t every day!”

His comments came only days after the Oslo, Norway mass shooting where 77 people, mostly children, were gunned down.

According to sources, Morrissey’s performance will be rescheduled for a later date. (I really hope they let us know when so I can tune out that night)

In other news, be sure to check out tonight’s Jimmy Kimmel Show, with special guests stars the Robertson’s’ from Duck Dynasty, featuring musical guest anyone other than Morrissey.

Ottawa most wildlife unfriendly City in Canada?

Beaverinpond

According to the Animal Alliance of Canada, our Nation’s Capital is one cruel place indeed – when it comes to beavers anyway.

In a media release, the animal rights group pleads with Mayor Jim Watson that the City can no longer keep “crushing, strangling, gassing, poisoning and shooting wildlife.”

If you click on the link, you’re led into the group’s website and what I would refer to as the ‘back story’  on this issue –  a letter from Donna DuBreuil of the Ottawa-Carleton Wildlife Centre regarding a family of beavers in Stittsville.

In Ms. DuBreuil’s letter entitled; Ottawa’s Shame…a Death Sentence for the Stittsville Beavers, she recounts the story of a mother beaver and her kits  removed from Paul Lindsay Park and relocated to a new area.

In  the letter, Ms DuBreuil notes that a relocation of this nature would likely mean death to one beaver family…(I mean Lily and her kits, sorry)

Ottawa, the most wildlife unfriendly City in Canada?

Is it me or has the Animal Alliance of Canada totally lost their mind??

I know it may sound like cruel and unusual punishment but in the real world the only logical & ethical  way to manage a beaver population is through trapping, which is exactly what should have happened in this situation.  (But I do understand that trapping is not always a viable option within City limits.)

We Conservationists  are not being heartless or mean, and it may come as a shock to many but there are actually more beaver in North America today than when Pioneers first arrived at this country! Reason being: their population is no longer trapped to manageable levels.

But calling Ottawa a ‘Wildlife Unfriendly City’ after they went through the effort of relocating a family of beavers instead of trapping them,  is the most preposterous thing I have ever heard!

By the way, I have some raccoons at my place that need relocating…

Global TV dumps hunting shows for 2013

rough

This disturbing Press release was just issued by the Beasley Brothers, and there is evidence to show that Global Television has caved to Anti-hunting pressure from the Vancouver Humane Society:

Global Television Cancels Hunting Shows from it’s 2013 line-up

Has Canadian Global Television become an Anti Hunter?

Media Release – Global Television Cancels Hunting Shows from it’s 2013 line-up

It is with great sadness that Beasley Brothers announce the very unfortunate decision by Global Television/Shaw Media to cancel all hunting shows on Global and the Shaw affiliate networks. Canada in the Rough™ has been airing for 8 years on Global Television and we’ve had a tremendous experience doing it. We want to thank all of you for your support throughout the years and as much as we hate to say goodbye, we have no choice. Canada in the Rough™, Canada’s most-watched hunting show, will be pulled off Global Television after December 30, 2012.

Our hunting heritage is under constant attack by those who have forgotten that hunting is at the root of human existence and still the most valuable and effective tool in wildlife management.

If you wish to share your thoughts with Global regarding this decision, please email [email protected] as well as [email protected] and [email protected] or call 1-877-307-1999.

Please remember to enjoy the greatness of Canada and be proud of your hunting heritage and thanks for your support

Sincerely,

Keith Beasley, Paul Beasley & Kevin Beasley Executive Producers

Ok, is it time to panic with the idea that all Canadian Media may soon be giving-in to pressure from anti-hunters?

The four hunting shows currently running on Global Television are: Canada in the Rough, Hunt TV, The Canadian Tradition and Angler & Hunter Television.

State document sheds PETA in poor light

 shelter

A recently discovered Site Inspection document from the Virginia Department of Animal and Food Industry Services shed some interesting  light on the controversial organization’s adoption practices.

Excerpts from said document:

A site visit was performed to the PETA headquarters building on July 7,2010 to determine if the organization’s current activities allowed for the continued inspection of the facility as an animal shelter; if the primary purpose of the facility was to facilitate finding permanent adoptive homes for companion animals. The following items were noted during the course of this visit:

1. The receptionist stated that PETA did not operate an animal shelter. When I indicated that PETA did report to operate an animal shelter and that this office has inspected in it in the past, an additional staff member was called to the desk and reiterated that there was no shelter. At this point I asked for Ms. Nachminovitch. Ms. Nachminovitch was called and indicated that she would be at the facility shortly. No other staff was available to begin the inspection.

2. The facility contains three rooms designated as animal enclosures. The rooms are not further subdivided into runs or cages. The three animals occupying the rooms were not being held for adoption purposes (one was being held in conjunction with the clinic operations, one was being boarded for an indigent community member, and one on behalf of a PETA employee). The facility does not contain sufficient animal enclosures to routinely house the number of animals annually reported as taken into custody.

3. PETA’s animal custody records were reviewed, finding that a total of 17 or 6% were recorded as adopted or in foster homes, while 273 or 94% were recorded as euthanized.  Of these, 245 or 90% were euthanized within the first 24 hours of custody.

4. Ms. Nachminovitch indicated that the majority of the animals that were taken into custody by PET A were considered by them to be unadoptable. Adoptable animals were routinely referred to other area animal shelters; conversely PETA often took custody of animals denied admittance by other area shelters. Ms. Nachminovitch confirmed that the shelter was not accessible to the public, and that most adoptions of animals were to PETA employees and affiliates.

The findings of this site visit support the assertion that PETA does not operate a facility that meets the statutory definition of an animal shelter as the primary purpose is not to find permanent adoptive homes for animals. This is further supported by other information gathered by or reported to this office summarized as follows:

1. The shelter is not accessible to the public, promoted, or engaged in efforts to facilitate the adoption of animals taken into custody. PETA reception has historically been unaware of the existence of an animal shelter and has stated to enquiring members of the public that no such facility exists. PET A has published suggested guidelines for animal shelters on their website that indicate their organizational preference for the operation of such facilities; their own facility does not satisfy many of the key recommendations. The agency is not aware of any substantive efforts to facilitate adoption of animals taken into custody.

2. Previous inspections of this office have found no animals to be housed in the facility, or few animals in custody.

3. Review of submitted annual animal record summaries by PETA and all reporting animal shelters for the past six years does not support that the facility has a primary intent to find permanent adoptive homes for companion animals. The following data was compiled by this office concerning the reported dispositions of dogs and cats taken into custody over this period.

Given the findings of the visit, it was determined that an inspection would not occur at present. It was indicated to Ms. Nachminovitch that no further action would be taken regarding this site visit until such point that she could respond with information supporting the legitimacy of PETA for consideration as an animal shelter.

All this to say that I certainly wouldn’t want my doggie to end up in a PETA shelter.

Would you??

Animal Rights Group carelessly kills rhino used in protest

rhino

In an extremely misguided attempt to demonstrate against the poaching of rhinos in South Africa, an Animal Rights Group has carelessly killed one of the very beasts they were trying to save.

In a Media Gathering aimed at raising awareness of the threat from poachers, Animal Rights and Anti-poaching advocates invited journalists to watch-on, as a privately hired Vet sedated a rhino so that its horns could be injected with a special insecticide and a tracking device attached.

What??

The idea being that said rhino (known as Guinea Pig) could act as an unwilling deterrent to poachers and be used in the fight against the illegal trade in rhino horns.

The only problem with the group’s plan was the actual health of the animal being forced into slavery.

Something went horribly wrong, and ‘Guinea Pig’ rhino never regained consciousness. The animal died as reporters looked-on in horror.

Doohhh!!!

“It’s the loss of another animal. It’s a death that I still chalk up to poaching,” said Lorinda Hern, spokeswoman for South Africa’s Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve.

According to reports, the same procedure had been carried-out on 20 other rhinos without incident.

So what went wrong?

Evidently the group feels terrible about the incident is ‘looking into what might have happened.’

Is it just me or is this sort of stunt not at all surprising?

It certainly isn’t the first time an animal has suffered at the hands of an Animal Rights individual – in yet another lame attempt to further their cause.

Way to go guys, you must be very proud of another job well done!

Food Banks Canada says NO to Ontario game meat

Foodbank

Word just came out this week that Ontario’s Food Banks are being encouranged to reject Game Meats!

WHAT????

Food Banks Canada took a stance with their “strong recommendation” to food banks specifically in Ontario, to reject meat not raised in captivity or killed in a licensed slaughterhouse.

“Deer and moose are the most organic meat you can get, and is consumed by millions of hunters every year,” said president of the Ottawa Valley branch of Safari Club International, Len Dickinson, during an interview this week.

“It seems totally ridiculous that Ontario’s food banks would rather see people go hungry than allow them to eat properly processed wild game.”

The executive director of Food Banks Canada claims the recommendation to reject game meat goes back to an old 2001 Ontario provincial law.

Under the old 2001 regulation, meat cannot be sold or distributed unless the animal was slaughtered in a government-licensed facility and inspected prior to slaughter.

Food Banks Canada says there is no provision in the Ontario Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act for game meat to be used for public for consumption unless they are the licensed owner of the meat.

Until this year, Food Banks Canada openly accepted game meats from across the country making this recent decision somewhat bewildering.

According to a National Post article, other provinces have no problem accepting wild game meats:

“The Saskatoon Wildlife Federation has held the “Hunt for Hunger” campaign encouraging hunters to hand over moose, elk and deer to charity. In the territories, some food distribution programs even deal exclusively in wild game. In March, the government of Nunavut launched the Country Food Distribution Program, a $1.7-million anti-poverty scheme to send caribou, seal and muskox to Arctic communities.

The Edmonton Food Bank accepts 2,000 to 3,500 kilograms of wild meat each year, according to executive director Marjorie Bencz. “We appreciate the support because it brings donors who normally wouldn’t be participating with us,” said Ms. Bencz.

In Cranbrook, B.C., this fall, to deal with growing herds of violent, urban deer, city officials have begun slaughtering them with bolt guns and handing them over to the local food bank. Every year, conservation officers in the Yukondistribute several thousand kilograms of road-killed meat to local communities.”

For the first time ever, the Safari Club International’s donation of venison was rejected by a food bank in Lanark. The meat was even process at a provincially licensed butcher shop.

Is it just me, or is there something wrong with this picture??

Out of the blue, Ontario‘s Food Banks are being forced to reject the most pure and organic meat available for human consumption? And the folks who need it the most are the ones who suffer?

Are they crazy??

I smell a rat here folks, and I’m not talking about a tasty and highly eatable muskrat, just a plain old disease-ridden sewer rat!

Greenpeace protests oilsands pipeline

pipline

It sure was a hornet’s nest on the Hill yesterday, as approximately 500 protestors gathered in mutual disgust for the proposed Keystone XL pipeline project.

100 or so protestors who ‘crossed the fence’ were even slapped with $65 trespassing fines.

The proposed 2,763 KM pipeline connecting Alberta’s oilsands and crossing 6-US States – although being met with controversy – is said to create some 20,000 jobs south of the border.

The NDP are, however, vehemently apposed to Keystone as Mark Dunn wrote in yesterday’s Ottawa SUN:

Supporters, including Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s government, say critics – including the opposition NDP – are exaggerating and fear mongering, and that oilsands development is an economic boom for Canada at a time the country is flirting with a second recession in three years.

The NDP argue the pipeline would create jobs in the U.S., and that Harper is misleading Canadians about the positive economic impact on Canada.

“The jobs aren’t for us. The oil isn’t for us. It’s for the U.S. It’s sort of selling to the U.S. so we can be their lapdog and get patted on the head every once and a while for doing a good job,” NDP environment critic Megan Leslie said.

The US State Department has yet to make a final ruling on Keystone XL, although it seems apparent the 7 Billion dollar project will be slated for approval come January.

OK let’s be honest, I have never been a big Greenpeace supporter but I do agree there may be a point of some concern here. The environmental impact of such a pipeline is huge and would take years to properly access, but really, will any of that matter in the big scheme of things?

There is an Economics term for such a dilemma referred to as ‘Opportunity Cost’ – it’s basically what one must give up in order to receive something else.

Keystone XL may turn out to be just the ticket our neighbours to the south need to get their economy back on track. As much as this project appears to benefit the US more than Canada, the symbiotic relationship we have with our floundering big brother requires drastic measures just like this.

It’s probably best that we don’t know the full environmental impact of Keystone XL, as I’m sure it will continue-on unabated whether we like it or not.

So what will the ‘Opportunity Cost’ be to our environment and natural resources?

We will probably never know, as the overall benefit to having more Canadian oil headed State-side may far outweigh any environmental impact this project would ever have.

British singer Morrissey goes on Animal Rights rant

Britain’s Morrissey – the so-called singer of 80’s band The Smiths has sparked controversy and outrage over a highly insensitive Animal Right’s rant during a concert recently.

Some 25-years ago, his alternative rock group received mediocre attention as one of the cookie cutter alternative bands of the era. (If I recall, a couple of girls in high school listened to them)

Apparently the lead singer and songwriter was  babbling about Animal Rights even back in 1985 on the ‘Meat is Murder’ album – a collection of songs laced with vegetarian rantings.

This time, the highly vocal vocalist from Manchester has crossed the line with his comments at a show in Warsaw, Poland, seen as insensitive and retarded by most of those in attendance.

Before starting into the song Meat is Murder – according to a British newspaper – the delusional vegetarian told the crowd, “We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown… Though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried S**t every day.”

The comment sparked immediate outrage and angry fans later flocked to Internet chat forums to vent.

Morrissey – the radical Animal Right’s activist – has even banned the sale of burgers and sausages from being sold at venues on his current tour, which I doubt will be much of an issue with the number of people who will likely attend his shows.

Good for you Mr. Morrissey, you’ve proven once again the depths a person can stoop in the ‘name of animal rights’, and you have graciously provided one more reason NOT to listen to your music. (Not that we really needed one)

I hope families of the those victims of the Oslo tragedy tear you a new one!

Royals told by Animal Rights group to avoid Stampede

  stampede

Prince William and Kate Middleton are being urged to avoid the Calgary Stampede, during their visit of that city in July.

The UK Animal Rights group called Fight against Animal Cruelty says if the Royals visit the famous Calgary Stampede; it would be like saying that rodeos, in general, are ok.

The Animal Rights group also sent Prince William and Princess Kate a short propaganda video(shot to the dramatic music of Olivier Stone’s movie Platoon) depicting the horrors of rodeo in North America, although none of the footage was reportedly taken at the Calgary Stampede.

According to the Calgary Herald:

“Every year, the Calgary Humane Society has animal protection officers on the grounds throughout the Stampede monitoring and enforcing provincial and federal animal protection legislation.

Executive director Patricia Cameron said the Stampede has been responsive to recommendations for improvements to animal safety. She said the Stampede has made at least 33 amendments to its practices based on consultation with the humane society in recent years.”

stampede2

It remains to be seen whether Wil & Kate keep the Calgary Stampede as part of their 3-day itinerary. I would sure that, with the Royal Family’s long history of hunting and show horses, they do not cave to pressure.

According to Stampede Spokesperson Doug Fraser, the Royals are more than welcome in his fair city:

“If the royal couple has any intention of seeing the rodeo, we’ll give them the best show possible,” said Fraser.

Prince William and Princess Kate will be in Calgary from July 6 – 8, as part of their cross- Canada visit.

PETA targeted struggling Ottawa church

Westboro

I cannot believe it took me a full year to hear about this one; yet one more lowbrow attempt by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to drum-up exposure and support.

But this time they have lowered the bar even further, in my opinion.

This letter was sent by PETA’s Dan Mathews in April, 2010, to  Chris Henderson- chairperson for Ottawa’s Kitchissippi United Church (Formerly Westboro United Church) Congregational Council:

April 15, 2010

Chris Henderson
Chair
Kitchissippi United Church Congregational Council

Dear Mr. Henderson,

In light of the recent news that the Westboro United Church has been put up for sale, PETA would like to offer to pay to hang a banner that reads, “God Loves All Creatures. Stop the Seal Slaughter,” on the side of your church until it’s sold.

Global leaders as diverse as Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, and His Holiness The Dalai Lama have taken a stand against the slaughter, and the European Union recently voted to ban seal fur. We’d like to boost our campaign in Ottawa and send the message to the Canadian government that it’s time to put a stop to this disgraceful massacre once and for all.

Please contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss rates. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Dan Mathews
PETA Senior Vice President

Well, I suppose I should not be surprised by the underhanded tactics employed by this so-called ‘non-profit’ organization, yet I always felt in the pit of my stomach that some things would remain sacred – even for them. I (wrongly) gave them that benefit of the doubt.

Evidently nothing is sacred when it comes to PETA – not even a house of God in midst of financial difficulty. The Westboro Church has  since amalgamated with two other parishes to form the Kitchissippi United Church (which incidentally has a fabulous rummage sale each year)

NO, I really shouldn’t be too surprised by PETA’s antics, as now I realize there is no level to which they will not stoop in proselytising their ‘good word’ on animal rights.

Here is PETA’s own press-release regarding their proposal to Ottawa’s former Westboro church, a place of worship right here in our city. I just love the part where these clowns refer to their propaganda ad as a “Win -Win”.

The whole idea of what they did makes me nauseous.

Ottawa — This morning, PETA sent a letter to Chris Henderson, chair of the Kitchissippi United Church Congregational Council, offering to buy space on the Westboro United Church to display a banner that reads, “God Loves All Creatures. Stop the Seal Slaughter.” The council owns the Westboro United building, which has fallen into disrepair and is for sale. Every year, tens of thousands of baby seals have their heads bashed in or are shot during the commercial seal slaughter, which is an off-season profit venture for the fishing industry.

“Our proposal is a win-win solution: It will raise awareness about Canada‘s shameful seal massacre and provide the church with much-needed funds at the same time,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “What better use for a proud old church than to have it serve as a beacon for showing compassion for others?”

Yup, just when you thought groups like this have achieved an the all-time low, they outdo themselves.

Well done Dan Mathews and PETA, you must be very proud.
